On August 24, 2026, the Alhambra City Council was reorganized, with Adele Andrade-Stadler elected as the new mayor and Ross Maza as Vice Mayor, following Jeffrey Maloney’s term as mayor.

A new Jersey Mike’s Subs is planned for Main Street in Alhambra, taking over the space formerly occupied by GameStop at 333 E. Main St. Work is underway at the site, where Jersey Mike’s signage has gone up, and the company has officially listed the Alhambra restaurant on its website as “Coming Soon!”
On July 27, Mayor Jeff Maloney hosted a special ceremony in Alhambra to officially sign a sister city agreement with Kirishima, formalizing a friendship between the two communities. The City of Alhambra has installed its first-ever speed humps on Marguerita Street as part of a new effort to slow traffic and improve neighborhood safety. The installation comes amid ongoing community concerns about speeding on residential streets and marks a major step in the city’s new traffic calming initiatives.
On May 6, the Alhambra and Monterey Park Rotary Club hosted the 27th Annual Peppy’s Heart Walk, which throughout the years has raised over $145,000 for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. At the core of the event of is Joe “Peppy” Sciarra, a centenarian who has spent much of his life serving Alhambra.
On April 23, hundreds of excited and hungry visitors came to 1127 S Fremont Ave in Alhambra to celebrate the grand opening and ribbon cutting of Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream, marking their fourth location in the San Gabriel Valley. On the hot April day, the first 50 visitors in line were especially excited, as Handel’s served them free ice cream.
