CSC Health hosted a mural unveiling on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at its medical center at 726 E. Main Street, Alhambra. Renowned muralist Kerne Erickson painted the project and resulted in a large-scale mural depicting the history of Alhambra on the exterior wall on Cordova Street, adding a rich artistic touch to the local streetscape. Notable landmarks included the Midwick Country Club, Pyrenees Castle, Alhambra Airport, the Alhambra Clock, the historic Fosselman’s ice cream truck, street cars, and Norman Rockwell, one of 20th century America’s most iconic illustrators; all depicted in the painting, recreating the city’s rich and multifaceted history.
More than 50 guests attended the event to show their support. “This is much more than unveiling a piece of art — it is about honoring the history of Alhambra and celebrating a community that is changing its future,” said U.S. Congresswoman Judy Chu. As CSC prepared to renovate the property, it invited neighbors to share their ideas, and the community expressed a desire for something that included the city’s history. “And CSC listened,” she added.
California State Assemblymember Mike Fong thanked CSC for continuing to invest in the community — not only through medical and social services, but through investments like this mural, which adds spirit to the city. “When everything is digital, it’s truly incredible to have a piece of art that is created by an artist in a craft — hand-painted,” he said. Alhambra City Councilmember Katherine Lee thanked community members for their participation and praised CSC for regularly hosting free community events, such as health fairs, expressing her pleasure at seeing residents turn out in support.
“Preserving history is vital, and it must be passed down to future generations,” said CSC President and CEO Peter Ng. He thanked the artist for completing this project for the community and welcomed everyone to bring their children to gain a deeper understanding of the city’s past through the mural.
Erickson created the mural on-site over two months, using a vintage painting style to depict scenes from Alhambra’s development. Some featured buildings still stand today; others have since been replaced. The Alhambra Historical Society assisted in preserving these details for the artwork.
