Cal State LA selected as Los Angeles County Vote Center for June 2 Primary Election
Cal State LA has been selected to serve as a Los Angeles County Vote Center in California’s June 2 Primary Election.
Voters in Los Angeles County will be able to cast their ballots for an extended voting period at any Vote Centers located across the county, instead of at a single designated polling place on Election Day.
Alhambra Resident Lynn Leiro to Meet Her Lifesaving Stem Cell Donor at City of Hope’s Annual Bone Marrow Transplant Reunion
Lynn Leiro, 40, was diagnosed with leukemia in late 2023, just weeks after completing treatment for triple-negative breast cancer. After experiencing severe headaches and abnormal blood work, she sought specialized care at City of Hope, where she learned she had acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Over 100 Volunteers Participate in Beautification Projects at Alhambra Day of Service
On Saturday, April 18, more than 100 volunteers came together at three locations across Alhambra for a Day of Service cohosted by the Alhambra Chamber of Commerce and the City of Alhambra, dedicated to beautifying the city. Community members rolled up their sleeves to take part in trash cleanups, graffiti removal, and other projects that helped give back to the neighborhoods we all share.
2026 State of the City
Mayor Jeff Maloney was first elected in 2016. He focuses on key issues of good governance, sustainability, housing, and economic development. He was elected by his council colleagues as Mayor in Dec. 2025 and will serve through August 2026.
Talmage Burke – The Longest Serving Elected Official in California History
Born on November 22, 1918 and graduating from Alhambra High School in 1935, Talmage Burke enrolled at USC where he eventually earned his law degree. Burke became involved in Alhambra politics when his father, Montivel Burke, was elected to Alhambra’s City Council in 1942. After serving as the Mayor, Burke’s father was later elected to the California State Assembly in 1944.
