Dumpling lovers, rejoice: there’s a new Mama Lu’s Dumpling House location in Alhambra as of Friday, August 1. For years, Alhambra residents have traveled to either Pasadena or Monterey Park for tasty xiao long bao and noodle dishes. Now they can enjoy the delicious dumplings and Chinese food right in their own city.
The new Mama Lu’s has taken over the space at 910 E Main St, formerly home to Jiang Nan Spring. Families are gathering around tables stacked with bamboo steamers and students are stopping by for pocketbook-friendly dining. One recent visitor shared online that “the food and price point hit the spot. Fancy restaurant setting, but same Mama Lu’s comfort food.” Another said this: “The vibe is that of a lively, classic Chinese restaurant: bustling, noisy in a good way, and full of authentic flavors. Perfect for group dining or satisfying dumpling cravings.”
Overall, the new Mama Lu’s restaurant has been a local hit. With this new opening, Mama Lu’s Dumpling House continues to show itself as a true cornerstone of SGV dining — now in Alhambra, a city already famous for its food culture.
