    Cal State LA honors Alhambra resident with Outstanding Professor Award at 2025 University Convocation and Investiture

    Rupa Purasinghe, Alhambra resident and professor of civil engineering in the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology (ECST), was honored for excellence in teaching and outstanding achievements during the Cal State LA 2025 University Convocation and Investiture on Aug. 18. Purasinghe was one of four faculty members to be presented with the Outstanding Professor Award, which celebrates significant accomplishments in scholarly inquiry or creative work, professional contributions, and community service.

      Free Alhambra Hazardous Waste & E-Waste Collection Event held August 23rd, 2025

      This Saturday, August 23rd, Los Angeles County residents can dispose of unwanted household hazardous waste & electronic waste at a free community collection event, presented by L.A. County Public Works and the Sanitation Districts. Residents are encouraged to bring items such as paints, cleaning supplies, pesticides, TVs, laptops, and printers to dispose of.

        The Future of the Past: Alhambra’s Final Historic Preservation Ordinance Vote on Aug. 25, 2025

        On August 25, 2025, Alhambra’s City Council will hold a public hearing on the Historic Preservation Ordinance for final approval and adoption. If adopted, this ordinance, created by the City and the Historic Resources Group, will establish a formal process for identifying and reviewing historically significant commercial properties in the city.
