Scanlon Early Education Center Celebrates Grand Opening

On Friday, April 17, at the corner of Garfield and Alhambra, Scanlon Early Education Center celebrated its grand opening in the previous location of the AUSD district office, marking an exciting new chapter for early childhood education in the community. The new center expands access to specialized learning opportunities and support services for children with special needs, helping families connect with high-quality resources close to home.

In the City of Alhambra, the Alhambra Unified School District continues to demonstrate its commitment to serving students of all ages and abilities through inclusive, student-centered programs. A crowd of residents, families, educators, community leaders, and elected officials gathered to commemorate the milestone, sharing in the excitement as the new campus officially opened its doors.

“One of my very first school teaching experiences was getting to interact with students with all different kinds of abilities. Seeing them get access to be being taught touched me and made me who I am today. Now, our students locally have access to this unique and incredible type of inclusionary learning.” shared Dr. Marcia R. Wilson, the president of the Alhambra Unified School District’s Board of Education District 1. “It’s wonderful that thanks to this building, kids get to come here to learn, to play together, and to learn together.”

The celebration highlighted the importance of investing in early education and ensuring every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive in a supportive environment. With the opening of Scanlon Early Education Center, Alhambra families now have expanded access to programs designed to build strong foundations for lifelong success.
