On July 11, 2025, Madeleine Doerning, a longtime Alhambra educator and community member, passed away at the age of 95. Her life was a remarkable journey filled with love, adventure, generosity, and a tireless spirit of giving.
On February 7, 2026 from 10:00AM to 1:30PM, American Red Cross is offering free smoke alarm installations in partnership with StateFarm and FEMA. Alhambra welcomes a new xiao long bao and noodles restaurant: Bao Master. Featuring crab meat and kurobuta pork xiao long bao among other unique, handmade delicacies, Bao Master is located in the new mixed-use space near Alhambra Place and the Sprouts parking lot. At the October 27 Alhambra City Council Meeting, a motion was made and passed to adopt an ordinance restricting smoking in multi-unit housing, affecting buildings with 3+ conjoined units. Advocated for by the Alhambra Community Health Alliance, a community coalition led by staff from the Institute for Public Strategies (IPS), this ordinance has been the culmination of years of work from the Alhambra community.
