The City of Alhambra has installed its first-ever speed humps on Marguerita Street as part of a new effort to slow traffic and improve neighborhood safety. The installation comes amid ongoing community concerns about speeding on residential streets and marks a major step in the city’s new traffic calming initiatives.

On February 28, thousands of residents and visitors flocked to Downtown Alhambra to celebrate the Lunar New Year as the annual Alhambra Lunar New Year Festival, co-hosted by the Alhambra Chamber of Commerce and the city and one of the largest one day festivals held in Southern California, transformed Main Street into a vibrant hub of culture, food, and entertainment.
At the October 27 Alhambra City Council Meeting, a motion was made and passed to adopt an ordinance restricting smoking in multi-unit housing, affecting buildings with 3+ conjoined units. Advocated for by the Alhambra Community Health Alliance, a community coalition led by staff from the Institute for Public Strategies (IPS), this ordinance has been the culmination of years of work from the Alhambra community.
On December 19, 2025, at 10:54 PM, Fire units from Alhambra and neighboring agencies were dispatched to the 1800 block of South Curtis Avenue to a One-Story, Single-Family residence with reports of persons trapped in the front home and two patients with burn injuries that resided in the back house.
