On December 19, 2025, at 10:54 PM, Fire units from Alhambra and neighboring agencies were dispatched to the 1800 block of South Curtis Avenue to a One-Story, Single-Family residence with reports of persons trapped in the front home and two patients with burn injuries that resided in the back house. Initial crews arrived to find smoke and fire showing from the structure and multiple victims with burn injuries and one person reported being trapped in the front home.
Fire crews arriving on scene immediately transitioned into rescue mode. There were a total of four adults living in the occupancy involved, two in the front house and two in the back house. Patients were immediately transferred to local hospitals in varying degrees of injuries. One occupant was pronounced dead on scene. The cause is currently under investigation.
