Starbucks Puts Finishing Touches on Renovations

Whether you’re sipping a sweet frappuccino or a bold black coffee, Starbucks has long been a staple coffeehouse serving the city of Alhambra. After considering the steady demand for both coffee and convenience, Starbucks decided to open a new drive-thru location this winter. Their goal is to serve a growing customer base better and alleviate traffic at existing locations.

The new Starbucks will replace a commercial building on West Valley Blvd, which most recently housed a Cajun restaurant, Ritters Steam Kettle Cooking.  The new Starbucks will feature a convenient drive-through facility and will serve as a welcome amenity for morning commuters and students on their way to the nearby CalStateLA campus.

Starbucks district manager Ben Long, explained how the new store prioritizes the comforts of a traditional cafe experience. “Great seating, great amenities, and that warm environment allows our community to come in and sit down and enjoy their coffee.” explained Long. “You’ll be able to enjoy new soft seating and work station outlets to charge devices.”

The updates come at a time when Starbucks is experiencing a significant redirection in branding, as newly appointed CEO Brian Niccol announced the company’s decision to implement notable changes. At a shareholder conference held earlier this year, Niccol explained how customers can expect to see a simplified menu and expansion of in-store cafe amenities to maximize consumer comfort and convenience.

The store opening will also boost Alhambra’s local economy, offering job opportunities to surrounding residents.

“We’re going to add about 30 to 40 jobs within the community,” stated Long.

The store is expected to drive the same volume of sales as existing Starbucks locations in Alhambra, with a steady customer base. Long expects it to also serve as a gathering place. Community events will continue to be a cornerstone of the cafe experience, and events such as the popular Coffee With A Cop program will find a place here at the new location.

“I know for certain there will be events here, because we definitely want to be a part of the community,” he commented.

Doors are anticipated to open during November and December of this year, and customers can expect to see new holiday beverages by the time of the grand opening.
