ALHAMBRA, CA – This fall, Alhambra High School Theater invites audiences to
experience the irreverent, hilarious, and surprisingly timely musical comedy Urinetown.
With a wildly inventive story, memorable music, and plenty of laughs, Urinetown takes
audiences on a satirical journey through a world where a severe water shortage has led
to a government-enforced ban on private toilets.
Set in a dystopian future where citizens must pay to use public amenities, Urinetown
follows the struggle between the powerful corporation controlling the public facilities and
a group of determined citizens who decide they have had enough. As the conflict grows,
the show delivers sharp humor and catchy musical numbers while playfully poking fun
at politics, corporate power, social inequality, and the conventions of musical theater
itself.
Alhambra High School’s student performers and technical theater students have been
working together to bring this unique production to the stage. Audiences can expect an
energetic performance filled with comedy, music, choreography, and the creative spirit
of high school theater.
