Restaurant of the Week (10/28-11/2) Mama Lu’s Dumpling House

At Mama Lu’s in Alhambra, the restaurant has the classic feel regulars have come to expect, with large round tables for group dining and dishes brought out quickly after being ordered. Their new one page menu makes it easy for newcomers to get acquainted with what to expect, while regulars are happy to still see their favorite classics.

Beyond the food, the staff here is polite and helpful; the atmosphere is alive with group conversations over delightful savory, sweet, spicy, and sour foods; and the interior has retained much of the charm that Alhambra residents appreciated from Jiang Nan Spring, which was formerly at this location.

The signature xiao long bao are plump and tender, filled with rich, savory broth that bursts with flavor.

Lightly crisp on the outside and soft inside, these sweet buns are best enjoyed dipped in creamy condensed milk.
