Since moving to Alhambra over two decades ago, award-winning chefs Aricia Alvarado and Hugo Molina have had all hands on deck, working hard to shape Alhambra’s cuisine. After transforming and running Genovese’s Italian Kitchen since 2018, the chefs are now inviting the community to experience something new: an intimate supper club, debuting August 16th.
Welcome to House of Alchemy Kitchen – LA’s Newest Supper Club
“Think of our supper club as somewhere between the elegance of fine dining and the warmth of a home-cooked meal among friends,” say Chefs Alvarado and Molina. “We gather around a beautifully set table to share a five-course meal expertly crafted with seasonal flavors, botanical infusions, and peak-season ingredients.”
With over 25 years of culinary experience, Chef Alvarado draws from Latin, Asian, Italian, and Spanish influences to create dishes layered with flavor, texture, and creative magic. Chef Molina, originally from Italy, brings his early memories in the kitchen with his mother and grandmother into his cooking, creating a refined and soulful blend of Modern American cuisine with Spanish, Italian, and Asian influences.
The husband and wife duo is excited to present to Alhambra these five thoughtfully curated courses that encapsulate the total of their experiences and cultures. Their menu showcases roasted meats, vibrant produce, and refreshing drinks designed to complement the moment.
A Culinary Partnership Decades in the Making
Alvarado and Molina’s story began at Parkway Grill in Pasadena — he, the executive chef; she, fresh out of culinary school. In 2018, after years in the restaurant world and raising their family in Alhambra, they took over Genovese’s, a neighborhood staple since 1981. Longtime locals may remember the beloved $15 lunch special, which still remains, but under their leadership, Genovese’s evolved into a beloved community hub where every dish is made with heart.
From hand-tossed pizza dough (using a generations-old family recipe) to the scratch-made vinaigrettes that elevate their Tuscan salad, every bite at Genovese’s speaks to the couple’s culinary philosophy: quality ingredients, timeless technique, and genuine care.
A New Chapter at Genovese’s
While the restaurant has become a go-to for casual lunches and family dinners in Alhambra, House of Alchemy Kitchen marks an exciting new chapter—a chance for Alvarado and Molina to showcase a different side of their talents.
With limited seating, the supper club offers an intimate, candlelit setting that encourages conversation, connection, and curiosity. Whether you come solo or bring a friend, the experience promises to be warm, flavorful, and unforgettable.
