AUSD Celebrates First Cohort of Communications Interns

The inaugural AUSD Communications Interns (ACI) were honored at a recent Board of Education meeting, where each student received a certificate of recognition for their contributions to district storytelling. The six seniors were presented with graduation cords, in recognition of their service, which they proudly wore at their graduation ceremony the following week.

At the May 20th Board of Education meeting, the Alhambra Unified School District celebrated the inaugural cohort of the AUSD Communications Interns (ACI). This pilot program (launched informally at the end of last school year) featured 12 talented students from Mark Keppel High School who brought their creativity and dedication to districtwide storytelling. (A few Alhambra High School students also participated in an unofficial capacity.)

Throughout the year, the ACI students contributed their photography, videography, and writing skills to help spotlight the achievements and voices of AUSD students, staff members, and schools. Their work was featured prominently across multiple platforms, including the Around Alhambra, Monterey Park Cascades, the AUSD Connections digital newsletter, and the District’s social media accounts.

The pilot year was a resounding success, culminating in a special recognition during the Board meeting where each ACI member was acknowledged for their contributions. The six graduating seniors were presented with special recognition cords to wear at their graduation ceremonies, marking their leadership and service in this pioneering effort.

With the success of this inaugural team – Katelyn Aguiniga, Brayton Andrade,  Patience Doan, Madison Kang, Tszwynn “Suna” Kwan, Justin Lim, Madeline Nguyen, Ricardo Padillo, Victoria Perez, Grant Sapcharoenlert (lead intern), Hayley Wong, and Karlie Yonemoto – AUSD is excited to announce that the program continue next year and will expand to include students from all three high schools. Students interested in applying to be an 2025-2026 AUSD Communications Intern should look for information when school resumes in August.
