For the first time in history, an Alhambra resident has been selected to represent her city as part of the Rose Court in the 2026 Rose Parade. Alhambra High School senior Keiko Rakin was selected in late September to join the court, distinguishing herself among Los Angeles’ top high school seniors for her community involvement, public speaking, and leadership.
On Saturday, October 18 at 10:00 a.m., Fremont Elementary School will host a community mural painting event led by professional artists from Studio Tutto, where students, families, and local residents will work side-by-side to create a vibrant, multicultural mural celebrating Fremont’s rich diversity.
Southern California’s past takes center stage Saturday, Oct. 18, at the 20th-annual Los Angeles Archives Bazaar, a free public celebration of the region’s history. Rupa Purasinghe, Alhambra resident and professor of civil engineering in the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology (ECST), was honored for excellence in teaching and outstanding achievements during the Cal State LA 2025 University Convocation and Investiture on Aug. 18.
