This summer, students and staff from across Alhambra Unified School District are joining forces to bring the colorful world of Seussical Jr. to the stage. Featuring performers in grades four through eight, the production highlights the creativity, dedication, and teamwork that make Alhambra Educational Foundation’s (AEF) summer theater program so special.
Behind the scenes, high school students and alumni are lending their talents to the production. Alhambra High School’s Kisa Lai is leading scenic design and paint treatment, while Aidan Angel Arroyo, also from AHS, serves as lead carpenter, helping transform the stage into the vibrant world of Dr. Seuss.
San Gabriel High School theater students are also spending part of their summer mentoring younger performers. Bryant Kwan, Maria Vargas Lopez, Denae Diaz, Luiz Felix, Hailey Chau, and other SG Theatre students are serving as counselors and instructors, sharing their skills in acting, singing, dancing, and technical theater.
The production is made possible through a partnership between AEF and the Mark Keppel High School Theatre Company, which is providing the stage and facilities for the performances.
This intensive summer musical theater “camp” is a celebration of mentorship, creativity, and collaboration, bringing together students from elementary and high school campuses throughout the district.
Filled with beloved characters and memorable songs, Seussical Jr. is a reminder that great things happen when a community comes together to support and inspire its students. Performances will be held at Mark Keppel High School (located at 501 East Hellman Avenue in Alhambra) on Monday, July 14th at 2:00 pm and Wednesday, July 16th at 5:00 pm. Admission is free, but community members are encouraged to reserve tickets in advance at sghsdrama.ludus.com.
