Hello there, Alhambra! My name is Jonathan Gutierrez and I have the honor of serving as secretary on the Board of Directors for the Downtown Alhambra Business Association (DABA), the chair for the Ambassadors Committee for the Alhambra Chamber of Commerce (ACC), and I own & operate my video marketing company, Turning Point Digital, from right here in Alhambra.
I’m also an Alhambra native, having lived here for 36 years. I attended Alhambra High School, and my first job was at the Little Caesars Pizza on Main St. I’ve always loved this city and have always made an effort to attend & support community events. As a child, my parents would take me to Granada Park & Alhambra park to enjoy free lunches & activities as part of the Summer Food Program. As a teen, one of my favorite community events to attend was the Alhambra Summer Jubilee. And now, my wife & I get to enjoy the many events held in Alhambra, like the Lunar New Year Festival, Alhambra Pumpkin Run, Alhambra Farmers Market, Main Street Market, and so much more.
When I first started my video marketing business, I thought for sure it would be an uphill battle. As an introvert, I’ve always had a hard time carrying a conversation or socializing with large groups of strangers. So business networking seemed like a nightmare to me. After getting involved first with the ACC and then with DABA, that all started to change. Everyone I met was warm & welcoming, and quickly I was made to feel comfortable and at-home.
I’ve had the opportunity to meet & work with some of the most passionate & nicest entrepreneurs in the area. This is what I’ve learned: behind every business is a story worth telling. Working with businesses across Alhambra has shown me how much they care about what they do. I’ve filmed promo videos for fitness studios, music stores, juice shops, local realtors, and the ACC, and I get to see how deeply each one of them cares about their community.
Working closely with DABA has also emphasized something else: our community is stronger together. I’ve seen firsthand how community support, business collaborations, and sharing our voices & ideas can make a big difference in a business’s success. When we support each other, we all rise. I wanna take this opportunity to invite every downtown business owner to join our free monthly DABA meetings. Your participation is important in making our community even better.
