On October 29, 1929, the very day that the stock market crashed, Optometrist Dr. George Morrison opened an optometry office in Alhambra. From that day until today, the business has been a member of the Alhambra Chamber of Commerce, making it the Chamber’s longest continuous member.
In 1984, the business was sold to Dr. David Snyder. Dr. Snyder moved the office from Garfield Blvd. to 22 South Chapel Ave. just south of Main St., where he turned a residential duplex into a comfortable office and examination space. In 2015, he turned the business over to his son, Dr. Harlan Snyder, but still sees patients on Wednesdays.
Dr. Harlan Snyder has completed a specialized residency program at the VA Sepulveda eye clinic specializing in diabetic and medical eye care. He is currently on staff at this VA clinic treating our Veterans one to two days a week in addition to seeing patients at Snyder Optometry.
Services provided by Snyder Optometry include complete eye exams with refraction, contact lens fittings for all types of contact lenses, dilation, retinal scans, and treatment of eye infections, trauma, and glaucoma. They also offer a large selection of frames in every price range and all types of premium lenses. In addition, they offer co-management of cataract and refractive surgeries (Lasik, PRK).
