Eaton Fire Updates: Alhambra Air Quality Drops, AUSD Schools Closed Until Monday & More

    Air Quality

With three major fires still blazing in the Los Angeles area, including the Eaton Fire in Altadena, at least five people have died while thousands of others have been forced to evacuate their homes. Air quality across LA has dropped as smoke covered the sky, reaching unhealthy conditions in Alhambra.

To protect yourself, wear an N95 mask if you need to go outside and use an air purifier inside, if you have one.

    AUSD Updates

AUSD has extended school closures through Friday, January 10. Schools are expected to reopen on Monday, January 13. The school district is continuing to monitor the air quality and will post updates on ausd.us, as well as on social media platforms @AlhambraUSD.

    Metro

Metro has suspended fares through Thursday, January 9, due to regional power outages.

    Alhambra Water System

On Thursday, January 9, the City of Alhambra reassured residents through social media posts that Alhambra’s water supply remains potable and the system is fully operational.

    Parking Enforcement Temporarily Suspended

Overnight parking enforcement and city lot enforcement have been temporarily suspended. The City asks that residents move their vehicles, if able, to allow for street sweeping to pass.

Enforcement is tentatively set to resume on Monday, January 13.
