Soroptimists Give Five Remarkable Women The Live Your Dream Award

On March 22, Soroptimist International of the Americas, Alhambra, San Gabriel, San Marino awarded five outstanding women with their 2025 Live Your Dream Award. The award assists women who provide the primary source of financial support for their families by giving them the resources they need to improve their education, skills, and employment prospects. The Live Your Dream Awards luncheon was held at Ramona Convent Secondary School in Alhambra. This year’s Live Your Dream Chair, Jane Carlson, gave each woman a monetary award and certificate.

In attendance was Soroptimist Camino Real Region Governor Cynthia Jarvis, members of the Alhambra local club, and President of Ramona Convent Secondary School Sister Kathleen Calloway. The women received certificates of commendation from the cities of Alhambra and San Gabriel, and from Tania Shariatzadeh, Field Representative of Congresswoman Judy Chu. A delicious lunch was catered by Charlie’s Trio restaurant.

Every year, Soroptimist International distributes more than $3 million in education grants to about 2,200 women all over the world. Over half of our 2,200 recipients are survivors of domestic violence, trafficking, or sexual assault. Nearly all of them have overcome enormous obstacles including poverty, teen pregnancy, or alcohol addiction. Each of our awardees plans to use their grant towards completing their education. They are truly some of the most remarkable women you will ever meet.
