Restaurant of the Week (03/31-04/06): Bon Appetea Cafe

Since opening its doors in 2014, Bon Appetea Cafe has become a boba hotspot in the heart of downtown Alhambra. While the current owners weren’t the original founders, they brought with them nine years of industry experience. Thanks to strong support from the community, Bon Appetea expanded in 2021, launching two additional locations in nearby cities.

Like many small businesses, Bon Appetea faced tough times during the COVID-19 pandemic. The cafe was forced to shut down for two months at the onset, resulting in significant financial strain. But the loyalty of their customers made all the difference. Thanks to a strong comeback, most of the original staff remained on board—and many are still serving up your favorites today.

Among those favorites is their famous popcorn chicken—a must-try signature dish. Made with freshly cut, marinated chicken and seasoned with garlic, Chinese five-spice, and crispy fried basil, each batch is hand-breaded and cooked to order. The result? A crunchy, juicy bite.

Beyond their bestsellers Bon Appetea offers an extensive menu of boba drinks, milk teas, fruit teas, and coffee. The team prides itself on consistency, ensuring each item is crafted with care. Newer additions to the menu include Spicy Spam Cheese Noodles, Chicken Wings, Spicy Wontons, and seasonal treats like themed macarons.

The cafe also offers bulk orders for corporate events and is available on popular food delivery apps. Be sure to stop by their Alhambra location, housed in a charming century-old building, and see what makes Bon Appetea a local gem.
