The fall season is about to get more dramatic in the Alhambra Unified School District, as our local thespians prepare to showcase their theatrical talents through their highly-anticipated fall productions

San Gabriel High School will open the season with ALICE BY HEART, a musical retelling of Lewis Carrol’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Set amongst the rubble of the London Blitz of World War II, the story follows Alice and her friend Alfred as they are forced to take shelter in an underground tube station. Alice encourages Alfred to join her as she escapes the harsh realities of war by diving into their cherished book and journey down the rabbit hole to Wonderland. As they travel through the tale, Alice by Heart explores the poignancy of first love, coming to terms with loss, and finding the courage to move forward. The musical encourages the audience to celebrate the transformational power of the imagination, even in the most difficult of times. SGHS’ performances will run September 27-28 and October 2-5. Mark Keppel High School will bring the comedic genius of Neil Simon to life with their fall production of FOOLS. Set in a small Ukrainian village, the play follows the story of Leon, an enthusiastic young schoolteacher who arrives to find the entire village is under a 200-year-old curse of chronic stupidity. As Leon tries to break the curse, hilarity ensues. This classic comedy is appropriate for all ages. Catch the production October 17-18. Alhambra High School is currently focusing on their upcoming haunted house in October, but immediately after, they will launch their fall production of CLUE. This murder-mystery farce is adapted from the film, Clue, which in turn was based on the popular board game. Audiences will experience a fun and witty whodunit that will leave them laughing as they try to guess the final twist. Ticket information and more details will be shared later at ahstheater.com.

This fall, make sure to support our local high school drama departments by attending some (or all) of these productions. We encourage the community to nurture the creativity and confidence of our young performers while supporting these local live theatre and our arts programs.
