Rotary Club President Ayla Jefferson congratulates talented musicians Luke Timbre (AHS), Matthew Dominguez (SGHS), and Mario Interiano (AHS) on their outstanding performances.
The Alhambra and Monterey Park Rotary Club held its annual Dan Stover Music Contest on February 4 during its weekly luncheon meeting. The event showcased the talents of three outstanding Alhambra Unified School District musicians, each representing their respective high schools.
Performing for an appreciative audience of Rotarians, the contest featured Luke Timbre from Alhambra High School, who played the keyboard, synthesizer, and percussion; Matthew Dominguez from San Gabriel High School, who performed on the trumpet; and Mario Interiano from Alhambra High School, who showcased his skills on the trombone.
The competition was fierce, with all three musicians delivering impressive performances that made the judges’ decision especially difficult. Ultimately, Luke Timbre emerged as the winner and advanced to the regional level of the Dan Stover Music Contest.
The Rotary Club’s annual competition provides young musicians with a platform to showcase their abilities and gain valuable performance experience. As Luke moves forward in the competition, AUSD thanks him for sharing his talent with the community and wishes him well at the next stage.
