AUSD and ATA Join Forces to Support Families in Need

Thank you to the many volunteers who made the latest food pantry distribution such a success. Additional donations are always welcomed. Make drop-off arrangements through the Alhambra Teachers Association (626-289-1933 or ataoffice13030@gmail.com).

The Alhambra Unified School District (AUSD) and the Alhambra Teachers Association (ATA) recently showcased the power of community support by hosting another successful Food Pantry distribution on January 25. Thanks to generous donors, local businesses, and nearly 40 dedicated volunteers, the pantry served as a lifeline to 150 families (representing over 200 students) facing economic hardships or recovering from recent wildfires.

Arriving early on a Saturday morning to organize fresh produce, nonperishable goods, and essential household items, volunteers worked diligently to create a welcoming environment for families. Beyond food, the pantry also provided personal hygiene products, diapers, and clothing. This expanded selection highlighted the district’s commitment to caring for students both in and out of the classroom and extending that support to their family members.

“Our food distribution day was a testament to the power of community — offering gracious support to those who have lost the most while bringing together our dedicated partners in unity,” said Lindsey K. Ma, assistant superintendent of student support services. “This wasn’t just about handing out food. It was about showing families they’re not alone and ensuring our students have the resources they need to thrive.”

While the event was a success, the need for donations continues year-round. AUSD and ATA encourage the public to continue contributing nonperishable food, household essentials, and other basic necessities. Donations can be dropped off or arranged through the Alhambra Teachers Association (ATA) office at 3030 W. Main St., Alhambra, CA 91801, by calling 626-289-1933, or by emailing ataoffice13030@gmail.com.
