Alhambra resident Nan “Noya” Wang took the lead by a wide margin in the election to represent Alhambra’s District 4 on the City Council as election day, Tuesday, November 5, drew to a close. Wang holds 43.7% of the votes placed, according to the L.A. County Registrar’s Office as of 3:46 a.m. on Wednesday, November 6.
Wang is a civil and structural engineer by trade, has previously served on the Alhambra City Planning Commission, and is currently the Public Works Director for the City of Rosemead.
The City Council District 4 seat is being vacated by Alhambra Mayor Sasha Renée Pérez, who is running for Senate District 25 in the California State Senate.
Following election day, Pérez, a Democrat, leads the race against Republican candidate Elizabeth Wong Ahlers with 60% of the votes. The winner of this race will replace Senator Anthony Portantino, who has reached his term limit, representing parts of the San Fernando, San Gabriel, and Pomona valleys in northeastern L.A. County.
