2024 Varsity Football
If you don’t have anything to do on a Friday evening, go out and support your favorite local high school football team. Games began on August 23 for the three AUSD high schools. Of the three, San Gabriel has been the most successful in the last few years having made it all the way to the State Championship Game in 2022.
San Gabriel could be a contender in the Almont League while Alhambra and Keppel will look for marked improvement over last year. The Matadors will return four of five starters on the offensive line and will have two solid running backs in Louie Navarro and Adam Mascorro who both made All League First Team last year. The Moors have a new Head Coach in Mike Mackintosh while Quarterback Bryan Leonard returns as a third year starter. Halen Tsang and Devin Martinez will lead the running game while Nero Navarro, Marco Vasquez and Christian Mina lead the receivers group. The Aztecs have two All League players returning on offense with Jasper Wong and Hunter To but will look to improve on the defensive side of the ball.
You can find game schedules and scores for your favorite teams at MaxPreps.com. Regular season games continue through November 1.
