There is something special about the first day of school. New backpacks, fresh classroom supplies, familiar faces, and excited students signal the beginning of another chapter across the Alhambra Unified School District.
More than 14,000 AUSD students returned to classrooms August 13th, ready to learn, reconnect with friends and teachers, and embrace the opportunities that come with a new school year. In the weeks leading up to the first day, teachers, administrators, and support staff worked behind the scenes to prepare classrooms, finalize schedules, and make sure campuses were ready to welcome students.
For AUSD families, capturing that first-day moment has also become a beloved annual tradition. Once again, families and staff shared their #AUSDFirstDay photos with the district, offering a glimpse of the smiles, school spirit, and special moments that marked the beginning of the 2026-2027 school year.
“Every new school year is a fresh start, filled with new possibilities,” said AUSD Superintendent Dr. Denise Jaramillo. “It’s an opportunity for our students to set new goals, discover new interests, and continue growing, while our entire AUSD community comes together to support them. I am excited about all that this year will bring for our students and families.”
The annual #AUSDFirstDay tradition gives the entire AUSD community a chance to share in that excitement, with each photo capturing a small glimpse of the new year as it begins.
