AUSD Seeks Community Voices for Bond Oversight Committee

AUSD will continue to accept applications for the two vacant COC positions until they are filled.

The Board of Education of the Alhambra Unified School District is inviting community members to help oversee how our local school bond funds are being spent. Two volunteer positions are currently open on the district’s Independent Citizens’ Oversight Committee (COC), which monitors the use of Measure HS and Measure AE school facilities bond programs.

The district is looking to fill two specific vacant roles: one member who is active in a bona-fide tax organization and one member representing the community at-large.

This is a great opportunity for residents who live within AUSD boundaries to contribute to the responsible use of public funds and ensure transparency in the district’s bond spending.

In compliance with Education Code Section 15278(b), the COC plays an important role by informing the public concerning the District’s expenditure of bond proceeds of Measure HS and Measure AE. They also review expenditure reports produced by the District to ensure that Measure HS and Measure AE bond proceeds are expended only for their intended purposes. Annually, they present a written report outlining their activities and conclusions about the expenditure of bond proceeds of Measure HS and Measure AE to the Board of Education in public session.

Interested individuals can review the committee’s bylaws and complete an application by visiting: sites.google.com/ausd.us/measure-ae-hs/oversight-committee. Completed applications should be submitted to AUSD’s Office of the Superintendent. Community members can call (626) 943-3330 with any questions.
