Happening now (May 1-3) in Iowa: Alhambra Unified School District is proudly represented at the National Academic Decathlon competition by, not one, but two standout teams. Following exceptional performances at the California state finals, both Alhambra High School and Mark Keppel High School earned Top Five finishes and secured their place among the nation’s elite. This marks a historic achievement as it is the first time in 40 years that any schools under the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) have advanced to the national level. Led by Coach Jose Sanchez at AHS and Coach Tin Tran at MKHS, the two teams have showcased academic excellence and a friendly cross-town rivalry. Alhambra High emerged as the LACOE champion after outperforming Keppel at the county competition, but Keppel came back strong to post the higher score at state. With months of preparation behind them, both teams are now putting their skills to the test on the national stage. Good luck to our AUSD decathletes! (Please follow the District’s social media accounts @AlhambraUSD for updates on their further accomplishments.)
