At Emmaus Lutheran School, we are more than just a school — we are a community dedicated to nurturing young minds and hearts in a Christ-centered environment. From our Preschool through 8th grade, we provide excellent academics, faith-filled learning, and a variety of extracurricular activities to help our students grow in every aspect of life. One of the highlights of our school year has been our exciting boys and girls basketball season, which wraps up in early March!
This year, Emmaus had four basketball teams showcasing the talent and teamwork of our students. Our Junior Varsity (JV) Boys and Girls teams consisted of students from 4th through 6th grade, many of whom played on an official basketball team for the first time! Throughout the season, they learned the fundamentals: dribbling, shooting, teamwork, and, most importantly, sportsmanship. They celebrated victories, faced defeats with grace, and discovered the joy of competition.
Our Varsity teams had a phenomenal season! The Varsity Girls team, made up of 6th-8th graders, showed incredible growth and maturity in their game, winning most of their matchups and only losing once. The Varsity Boys team, with 7th-8th graders, also had an outstanding season, displaying their skills across the court with impressive three-pointers and strategic plays. They learned to rely on each other and gave it their all each game.
Game days at Emmaus are an incredible experience! Our beautiful gym comes alive with fans cheering, students competing, and an exciting atmosphere that unites our school community. Our cheerleaders led the crowd with energetic cheers and wowed everyone with their halftime performances, featuring pom dances, pyramids, and cartwheels. Adding to the excitement, Emmaus debuted its new pep band this year! Playing crowd favorites like “Louie, Louie,” “Eye of the Tiger,” and “Another One Bites the Dust,” our talented musicians helped keep the energy high.
At Emmaus, we are incredibly proud of our student-athletes, who balance high academic expectations with their commitment to basketball, band, and cheerleading. Their dedication and perseverance reflect the values we instill at our school — faith, excellence, and teamwork.
As we look ahead, our Varsity Boys team will represent Emmaus at the California Lutheran School State Basketball tournament in March, hoping to bring home a trophy. Let’s go, Comets!
