The Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) recently welcomed its new members of the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council, including Mark Keppel High School’s Gabrielle (Gabby) Wong, an accomplished senior eager to represent her peers.

The LACOE Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council offers a platform for high school students across the region to connect directly with LACOE Superintendent Dr. Debra Duardo and collaborate with fellow student leaders from diverse backgrounds. The council members, including Gabby, will share insights on a range of issues impacting schools and communities, contributing their voices to shape conversations around education and youth development.

As a member of this council, Gabby will engage in discussions on pressing topics such as mental health, educational equity, and college and career readiness. This council provides students with a rare opportunity to influence policies and decisions that affect their peers across Los Angeles County, empowering them to contribute to meaningful educational changes.

In a welcoming message to the new members, Dr. Duardo shared, “I am so excited to collaborate with each of you this school year. We have an incredible year ahead, filled with opportunities to enhance your leadership skills, connect with peers across the county, and advocate for ALL students in LA County. I look forward to a wonderful, impactful year together.”

The Alhambra Unified School District is proud of Gabby for being selected to LACOE’s Student Advisory Council and is confident she will represent her fellow students well by providing thoughtful input and building connections with student leaders from across the county.
