One of the most impactful ways Alhambra Unified School District parents can support their child’s education is by joining the Parent-Teacher-Association (PTA). PTA is a community of parents and educators (as well as students at the high school Parent-Teacher-Student-Associations) who work together to enhance the learning environment for all students. By joining PTA, you can build stronger connections with all community partners, help plan events that enrich your child’s learning experiences, and become an advocate for schools and education.

Being involved in PTA also sends a powerful message to your child that education is a priority and that you are an engaged partner in the success of their school. Research shows that students with involved parents are more likely to perform well academically, have better social skills, and adapt more easily to changes.

“Our PTAs are part of the First District PTA, which – as its name implies – is the very “first” PTA district established in California in 1912, so our schools and district have a very long and rich history with PTA,” explains AUSD superintendent Dr. Denise Jaramillo. “There are so many enrichment activities and opportunities at each of our schools that would simply not be possible without the selfless dedication of our PTA members. They are incredibly valued partners in all we do.”The last of AUSD’s schools are in the process of re-establishing their PTAs, which means AUSD will soon have an active PTA (or PTSA) at each of our 16 elementary and high schools.  Please become a member of your child’s PTA by visiting http://JoinTotem.com and searching for your child’s school. (Please Note: Repetto School recently re-established its PTA and is in the process of activating its online membership platform. If you don’t see Repetto listed on the membership site yet, please check back soon or contact the school. Granada School is in the final stages of re-establishing its PTA and hopes to complete the process by the end of first trimester.)
