Albert Lew, a resident of Alhambra, is poised to make history this April when he takes on the iconic Boston Marathon. This race marks the culmination of a remarkable journey to complete the original six Abbott World Marathon Majors – Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, and New York City – a feat
known as achieving “Six Star Status”. If successful, Albert Lew is believed to be the first person
from the area to accomplish this prestigious goal.
Albert’s running journey began in 2017 when he joined a church group in tackling a challenge
that seemed impossible to him and his friends at the time. What started as a group effort soon
transformed into a personal passion, leading him to complete ten marathons, five of which are
World Marathon Majors.
“The World Marathon Majors are the pinnacle of the marathon running experience,” says Albert.
“Each race is a unique experience, with its own challenges and rewards. From the energy of
Tokyo to the history of Boston, they’re all incredibly special.”
Balancing a demanding career as an actor/writer/artist/engineer with the rigorous training
required for marathon running has been no easy feat. “There’s been a lot of early mornings on
my own and fitting in miles wherever I have openings,” Albert Lew explains. “But no matter how
tired or unenthusiastic it can be some days, just one run at a time.”
But the rewards have been immense. “You feel like you can do nearly anything. You have the
energy to build your life and go through the walls holding it back, whatever it might look like.”
Albert shares.
The Boston Marathon, the final piece of the Six Star puzzle, holds particular significance. “At the
holy grail of marathons where I’ve cheered friends before, it feels like a full circle moment.”
Albert Lew says. “I’m incredibly excited and a little nervous, but I’m ready to give it my all.”
Albert Lew is currently training hard for the Boston Marathon and looks forward to representing
Monterey Park/Alhambra on this world stage. He hopes to inspire others in the community to
pursue their running goals, no matter how challenging they may seem.
