Five students from Alhambra High School have earned the National Speech & Debate Association’s Academic All American Award, one of the highest honors presented by the organization.
The Academic All American Award recognizes students who have demonstrated excellence both in competition and in the classroom. To qualify, students must earn the degree of Superior Distinction, which requires at least 750 speech and debate tournament and service points. Recipients must also have completed a minimum of five semesters of high school, maintained a GPA of 3.7 or higher, and demonstrated outstanding character, leadership, and academic achievement.
The award is one of the most selective recognitions in speech and debate. According to the National Speech & Debate Association, fewer than one percent of student competitors nationwide receive the distinction each year.
The recognition highlights the strength of Alhambra High School’s speech and debate program and the commitment of its students to achieving at the highest levels. By balancing rigorous coursework with extensive participation in tournaments, community service, and leadership opportunities, these five students have distinguished themselves among their peers across the country.
Their achievement brings national recognition to Alhambra High School and serves as an example of the hard work, discipline, and perseverance that speech and debate encourages in students.
