ELAC Town Hall: Mendez et al. V. Westminster et al

East Los Angeles College is hosting a free Racial Equity and Social Justice town hall, open to the public in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. The topic is, “Mendez et al. V. Westminster et al: Paving the Path to Educational
Justice and Racial Equality with Daniel G. Solorzano, Ph. D., Keynote Speaker and Catherine Murphy, Documentary Film Maker, Special Guest Speaker. Mendez et al v. Westminster School District et al. successfully ended de jure segregation in California. Filed on behalf of 5,000 students of Mexican descent, this class action lawsuit challenged institutionalized race discrimination in the 1940s and battled for the constitutional rights of children across the nation.
